BATTLE FOR THE CROWN RULES

Game Format: 

Field Dimensions: Field Length will be in between the 40 yard lines on the sideline. 

·  Each game will consist of 3 rounds

·  Round 1 each team gets 10 reps on offense and 10 reps on defense

·  Round 2 each team gets 10 reps on offense and 10 reps on defense

· Round 3 each team gets 10 reps on offense and 10 reps on defense

· Offense will start from the left offensive tackle and finish with the right offensive tackle taking one rep at a time. (ex, LT takes a turn, then left guard takes a turn then center, then RG, then RT). Then start from the right offensive tackle and finish with the left offensive tackle.  Which means the only player going 2 reps in a row will be the right tackle.  Each round is completed when all 5 linemen have had 2 reps each.    

· Only 1 offensive linemen vs 1 defensive linemen will compete at any given time.  Before each rep can begin, all offensive linemen must be in a 2-point stance with both knees bent or a 3 point stance.   

· Offensive linemen are required to have a split of 2 feet between each other before any rep can begin.

·  Offensive lineman not in the rep cannot chip

·  Each rep will begin with the offensive lineman’s first movement.  A 3-second timer starts on movement of the offensive player.  The defender is trying to get to the bag to touch it.

·  Each athlete can choose to compete in either a 3-point or 2-point stance

· Defense has 3 seconds to beat the offense and make a sack

· Rock-Paper-Scissors by captains decides who will start on offense and on defense to begin competition

· A whistle or horn will begin each game

· A table top flip card will keep the official score on the field for each game

· Soft-shell helmets must be worn by all players. No one will be allowed to compete without a soft-shell helmet

·  Each half of the field will have a Field Supervisors

·   The Field Supervisor will hold the 3-second countdown timer and blow the whistle on sacks as well as relay the score to the administrator doing the flip score cards

·   Every game will have a Field Supervisor

·   A trainer will be on site but players must bring their own tape 

·   A bag will be placed at 6 yards directly behind the center

·   The team on offense is responsible to have a player pop the bag back up and put the cone on top of the bag

  • No point will be awarded if player touches the bag while on the ground.

 

 

Point Values: 

· 1 point awarded to the defense for touching the QB bag within the 3-second timeframe 

· 2 points awarded for knocking the cone off the top (The cone must come all the way off the top of the bag, moving it or knocking it over still on the bag does not count)

· A second consecutive offensive holding will result in 1-point for the defense and a replay of the down (unless declined).  1-point will be awarded for any more consecutive holding calls.

· Helmet not worn results in a 1-point deduction from the offending team.  A second violation by a player will result in a 2-point penalty and that player will be ejected from the game

  • No point will be awarded if player touches the bag while on the ground.

 

Coaching your Team:

· Offensive coach must be positioned behind the QB bag and outside of the tackle box

·  Defensive coach must be 5 yards behind LOS and outside of the tackle box

·  Coaches are not allowed to challenge any ruling

·  Coaches will be given 1 sideline warning during play. Second warning will result in a 1-point deduction from your team total. Third warning will result in coach’s ejection and a 2-point deduction

·  Absolutely No Fighting will be tolerated.  If a player throws a punch, he is ejected immediately and can NOT return to the game and is ejected from the tournament.  Both teams will be disqualified if there is a bench clearing, resulting in a forfeit 

  

OVERTIME:

· Any game that ends in a tie will go to overtime

· Captains will do Rock-Paper-Scissors

· Winner will choose to be on offense or defense. Loser chooses where they will align.

*Pool Play: Sudden death! One rep to determine it all.

 

POOL PLAY:

· Each team will play in 2 pool play games.  These will all consist of 3 rounds.  Scores will be kept after each game and documented.

 

SEEDING FOR ELIMINATION ROUNDS WILL BE DETERMINED BY: 

· Win-Loss record

· If there are 2 or more teams with the same record, the tie breaker will be determined as follows:

*Pool play overall point differential

*If still tied then it goes to total points scored

*If still tied teams will be seeded off of a coin flip by our staff

 

PENALTIES 

· Absolutely no hands to the face by either offensive or defensive lineman

· Defense will result in a loss of down

· Offense will result in a do over of the down (unless declined)

· A second consecutive hands to the face by the offense will result in 1-point for the defense

· The same will continue for a third offense and so on

· Encroachment by defense results in a loss of down

· Holding by offense is a do-over of the rep (unless declined by the defense)

· A second consecutive holding by the offense will result in 1-point for the defense

· The same will continue for a third offense and so on

· Offsides by the defense is a loss of down

· Bull rushing will be a loss of down for the defense

·  An offensive player slamming a defensive player to the ground and/or landing with all his weight on the defender will result in a replay of down(unless declined by the defense)

· A second consecutive offense will result in 1-point for the defense and a replay of the down

· The same will continue for a third offense and so on

   

 

AGE DIVISIONS 

· High School Division / 18u

9-11 grade (current)

· Middle School Division

7-8th grade / 14u (current)

· Youth Division /12u

5-6th grade (current)

 

*Players may play up in an age division, but are not allowed to play down
